We look forward to welcoming you to the 18th Scoliosis Support & Research International Phillip Zorab Symposium which is taking place on the 19th & 20th June 2025, in the heart of Westminster at One Great George Street, London SW1P 3AA.

The International Phillip Zorab Symposium takes place every two to three years for clinicians and scientists with an interest in scoliosis aetiology and the development of more effective treatments. Phillip Zorab was a chest physician at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London who developed an expertise in the management of severe scoliosis, and an interest in the aetiology of idiopathic scoliosis.

The International Phillip Zorab Symposia lectures generate fruitful discussion among experts in the field of scoliosis and are instrumental in inspiring new research.

Since the founding of the BSRF in 1973, the charity has made a significant contribution to the ongoing research into the causes of idiopathic scoliosis. BSRF merged with its sister charity Scoliosis Association UK in 2023 and became Scoliosis Support and Research (SSR) on January 1st 2024.

SSR still strives to stimulate and finance high-quality research into: the causation of, prevention of, and potential cures for idiopathic scoliosis; the assessment of new forms of treatment – surgical and otherwise; the encouragement of basic scientific research that might add to knowledge of the changes, causal or otherwise, in idiopathic scoliosis, and the support of research by young surgeons to stimulate an interest in scoliosis in newly qualified doctors.  Alongside this we provide vital support to those affected by scoliosis by means of our Helpline, regional patient events and counselling services. Money raised by our supporters helps to maintain significant funds available to finance further research.
